What is a Prenatal Massage?
A Prenatal Massage is a massage for expectant mothers who are out of their first trimester. You will lie on a face-down pregnancy pillow on your stomach or back with pillows provided to ensure you are comfortable throughout your massage.
During your session, therapist will be using relaxing strokes, similar to what you would expect during a Swedish massage. The massage therapist will focus on areas that typically cause discomfort during pregnancy, such as lower back, hips, legs, and other areas needed to be focused on.
You will be fully and modestly draped with sheet/blanket during your massage. The therapist will only uncover the part of the body being worked on, re-draping and tucking for client comfort. A client can request that certain parts of their body not be massaged.
Benefits of Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, and relieve aches and pains commonly associated with pregnancy. A prenatal massage can also reduce anxiety and depression. Prenatal massage also improves sleep, which is very important and not always easy to achieve during pregnancy!
